Hello, I’m Jess. I joined Ecovis in 2010 as a graduate trainee in the firm’s business advisory department and quickly progressed to become an Audit Partner in under 10 years. Throughout my career, I have focused on audit, compliance, and technical accounting matters. I also spent seven months on secondment at FTSE 250 listed insurer Hastings Direct, assisting the Group Financial Reporting function in steering the business through its IPO.

A significant achievement in my career was being announced No.1 in the Accountancy Age 35 under 35 rankings for 2021.

My primary role involves focusing on audit and compliance, and I genuinely enjoy problem-solving and keeping up to date with technical regulations and accounting standards. I aim to take the worry away from my clients and make the year-end compliance process as pain-free as possible. During audits, we emphasise project management and communication, ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed and updated, which helps avoid unforeseen issues, surprises, or missed deadlines. I strive to ensure that the firm provides quality service to all clients, demonstrating integrity and presenting realistic solutions to real-life issues. My drive for excellence is at the core of everything I do.

My client base includes companies operating within international groups, SPV/Securitisation Vehicles, and owner-managed businesses. My clients span a variety of industries and I work with clients of all sizes, including listed companies, where I typically act as the Engagement Quality Control Reviewer. I am proactive in ensuring these audits comply with regulations while remaining flexible to assist clients as needed.

I frequently collaborate with ECOVIS International network firms and assist with UK subsidiaries of US public companies subject to PCAOB oversight. This has required me to build my technical knowledge of US GAAP, US GAAS, and PCAOB Standards, demonstrating my expertise in these areas.

As a training firm, Ecovis recruits numerous graduates and school leavers each year. I assist with recruiting trainee and experienced staff, ensuring a level playing field is afforded to all candidates. At Ecovis, I serve as the MLRO, Audit Compliance Principal, and Ethics Partner. A significant part of these roles involves delivering training and development across the firm in areas such as compliance, technical matters, and firm policies and procedures. Additionally, I have delivered technical training and workshops to clients and member firms of ECOVIS International.
